Look at those rivers, the justification is messing with the spacing between words making some lines more awkward than others, so hyphenation should be used to even out the line count and cut down on the rivers. They use hyphen marks instead of em-dashes for a pause or transition in thinking multiple times. The bold and italicization of the focus sentence seems to be overkill.
