The above table of contents is from a book about Anarchy. Although the overall text has a centered alignment, the designer tweaked each line's alignment to look like a crack in the page. The symbolism is seen before you even read the book because Anarchy tears apart the central government while the table of contents, centered and written strong serif font (sorry if you can't see it), is being pulled apart.

This table of contents is broken up into 2 pages, where the first page has a flush right, rugged left alignment and the second is broken up by a grid but is in a consistent flush left, rugged right alignment. The grid is an interesting touch that adds organization and a clean look, which complements the book's title- Maya Deren and the American Avant-Garde
